Golden hour gets a lot of attention in photography—and for good reason. That warm, glowing light just before sunset can be beautiful. But here's the truth: I don't schedule most of my family sessions during golden hour.
In the summer, sunset can be incredibly late, which doesn't always work well for families. Young children may need to be home for bedtime or naps, teens have sports and activities, and parents have work and busy schedules. Every family has different availability, and I don't believe you should have to rearrange your entire life to get beautiful photos.
The good news? Beautiful light happens all day long.
Soft morning fog can create an incredible, dreamy atmosphere. Bright afternoon sunshine can give your images a fresh, joyful feel. Even midday light can be beautiful when I know how to work with it.
Do I love a sunset session? Absolutely. There's something special about that warm evening glow. But it's just one kind of beautiful light—and it's certainly not the only time I can create gorgeous, authentic images for your family.
My goal is to create beautiful photographs that fit into your life—not make your life fit around the perfect hour of light.
